Rochester had a great inaugural event. 18 people planted 14 different vegetable boxes (6-8 rows of 4-6 vegetables) of beets, kale, arugula, bok choy, string beans and more! All vegetables go to Foodlink, the city food cupboard, and the community garden is located at the neighborhood safe house.
The volunteers of mostly Simon students made new friends with Nick, the garden manager, Mike the Reverend and Pastor Cindy who run the garden. Everyone was glad they came! Afterward, we brought the party to Simon field day with beers, outdoor activities and a cookout. Fun was had by all!
