Communityler Evanston was a ton of fun! We had around twenty volunteers (all NU students) meet at the Somme Woods, a short drive away from Northwestern University. At the Somme Woods preserve, we picked garlic mustard, an invasive species in the area, to help keep the forest habitable for a many species of wildlife that live there. We had a great time and were lucky to spend time with each other outdoors on a beautiful day (we had been worried about rain but it never came!). We also got to see some frogs and toads at the preserve (one is pictured below)! Then, after the event we had a wonderful BBQ – it was an extremely special and fun day.
